Urban drainage systems are at the heart of sustainable, resilient, and smart urban water management. But this sector has often faced a fundamental obstacle: a lack of coordination, access, and shared knowledge across research infrastructures worldwide.
To tackle this, ICSUD was established as a specialize centre and driving force for the Development of sustainable urban drainage systems in Cameroon, focusing on urban drainage policy, sustainable infrastructure, and flood risk management through applied research, Policy development ,public engagement, capacity-building and innovative .
We take an integrated approach to both drainage strategy and flood risk management – considering both in the context of the local water environment. We have substantial experience of designing drainage systems and flood-risk management measures for a wide variety of project types and sizes.
Our mission is to provide strategic, policy leadership and expertise in combining land-use planning with water infrastructure to build resilient, sustainable, and flood-resistant urban environments that make human settlements more equitable, sustainable, resilient, and healthy. Our goals are to build collaborative communities to improve urban water infrastructure. Includes Enhancing the operational resilience of urban drainage systems through real-time monitoring and data-driven management and developing techniques to improve the performance of existing, outdated systems as well as Developing models and infrastructure to mitigate and prevent, surface water runoff and pollutant discharge.
